Once again Adobe are behind other software companies in releasing an upscale feature to their software and its still only in Beta. Topaz Photo AI has had this feature for such a long time now and it doesn't limit the size you can upscale some photos to as Adobe are doing here.
Oh my God, AI upsampling is so 2016!
I've tried Generative Upscale a few times in Beta. It seems to sometimes add unnatural-looking details to things like feathers and fur. If the original image is reasonable to sharp to begin with, I usually prefer just a plain old, generic resample.
One thing I would like you to address would be how to export with copyright and contact info on photoshop. How can I customize this information when selecting this option when exporting?
Original image has background banding. Expanding 4X still has background banding. Select subject mask, reverse the mask, then gaussian blur the background to wash out the banding—case solved. Or use another background image behind the masked subject.
Thanks Anthony, that was a great video. I usually do all my up-scaling in ACR but this method has some advantages, especially for difficult files/subjects.. 😊
