A stark photograph of existence and demise has received the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Yr pageant for 2022.

Ashlee Jansen was once topped the total winner for her photograph of a shark circling the carcass of a tender whale and took house a prize of AU$10,000 ($11,690).

Entitled Nature’s Prey, it was once shot in Coral Bay, Western Australia, and underlines the brutal nature of the planet’s ecosystem.

“Excursion boats were looking at the younger whale for days because it slowly moved in the course of the bay, showing sicker and slower with extra shark bites over its frame daily,” explains Jansen.

Jansen’s buddies noticed an oil slick at the floor brought about by means of the fallen cetacean and the photographer went out to discover.

“I rushed out to their location and jumped within the water to seek out the skeleton of the younger humpback whale laying nonetheless at the ocean flooring. Surrounding the naked bones have been a number of other species of well-fed sharks,” she says.
